How to play
- Select a location from the list above. Click "Open" and the page will change to the treasure hunt itself based at that location.
- Movement within the view is as within Google Maps:
- Click or touch into the view to move to that location, or click on (or touch) the large chevrons.
- To explore from your position, drag your mouse around. If you have a mobile device, you can move the device around to change the view.
- To zoom in or out, scroll with your mouse or two-finger zoom with a touchpad. You can also use + and - below the compass.
- If you want to, you can check out this YouTube video guide to using Street View on both laptop/desktop and smartphone.
- Move along the path described within the instructions, answering the clues along the way. The clues are in the order you will come across their answers.
- Click on any instruction direction to move directly to that position.
- The relative screen sizes mean that a laptop or desktop is easier to see things than mobile devices, but both work:
- If you are using a desktop or laptop, you can switch to full screen view by clicking on the [ ] button within the view. The instructions (including the clues) will automatically appear as an overlay on top of the scene. The escape key will return you to the standard view.
- If you are using a mobile device, you will start in a full screen view to optimize the screen real estate.
Full Screen View
- There are some buttons you can click on or touch to affect the instructions overlay when in full screen view:
- will shrink the instructions so you can see more of the view.
- will restore the larger instructions overlay.
- will allow you to drag the overlay to a different position on the screen.
Google's Street View
- Google's Street View is constantly being updated.
- This means that, from time to time, some answers to our clues disappear or change from when we created them.
- We regularly check all of our online treasure hunts free or not, to help keep them up to date.
- But we welcome your help with that.
- If you think you've found a clue that has no answer - or the wrong answer - please do let us know using this form.
- We'll be sure to check it and either update / change the clue and answer, or we'll let you know if we think it is still valid.
